Meet Our President
Dr. Julia Christensen Hughes brings 25 years of progressive, academic leadership to her role as President and Vice Chancellor of Yorkville University, where she will continue to act as one of Canada’s leading voices on academic integrity and innovation in education.
Under her 10-year stewardship as Founding Dean of the Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph, Lang’s MBA in Sustainable Commerce was ranked first in Canada and in the top 10 globally by national ‘clean capitalism’ business magazine, Corporate Knights.
As Yorkville University’s President and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Christensen Hughes likewise intends to play a ground-breaking role in Canadian higher education, leveraging the full potential of the school’s flexible, accessible and exceptionally small class setting to maximize innovation and student success.
Dr. Christensen Hughes is passionate about supporting students who have a laser focus on life change, career choice or advancement, and is thrilled to be leading an educational institution tailor-made to facilitate their success. Part of her vision is to deepen Yorkville’s relationships with community partners, with the goal of improving student opportunities for work-integrated learning, including internships and projects, ensuring a greater degree of experiential learning, integration within the community and improved employment prospects post-graduation.

The institution has been granted a consent by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) to offer the BBA for a 7-year term starting 04/06/2017 and the BID for a 5-year term starting 04/06/2017 (consent extended until 8/31/2023) and the BCA for a 7-year term starting 12/17/2020.

In New Brunswick, all programs are delivered online, allowing students to balance work or family commitments with their academic schedule.

Professional Designations
Employers value graduates who are members of relevant professional associations and who demonstrate a commitment to upgrading their professional skills. Yorkville University graduates fulfill some of the prerequisites to apply to become a Chartered Professional Accountant, Professional Project Manager, K-12 Principal or Registered Psychotherapist, amongst other career-enhancing possibilities.
Additionally, some Yorkville University programs are also recognized or accredited by industry associations and allow graduates to apply for professional membership.
